  I’ve always had a B & D hand vac. Pros = picks up well enough, has two “attachments” and two speeds, the battery charge seems to last longer than some previous ones I’ve had, and it folds into a smaller size for storage and charging. Cons = noisy, noisy, noisy, and kinda heavy. I’d buy another though…

  For all the design innovation here, this is just a “dustbuster” with a few quirks. Mostly good ones.

  Pros: 18V! It’s 30% more powerful than any previous B&D dustbuster. The canister filter is very large for a handheld vac, and it’s protected from larger debris by both the cyclone design by a washable plastic filter cover.
  It has an extendable nozzle built in for reaching in between your car seats.

  Con: The canister is not removable!!!!! And by “not removable,” I mean even with a screwdriver and some mechanical know how, you won’t want to. The screws are very small, stiff, and awkwardly located. If you were to pour water in the canister, it would go to the motor. So the best you can give it is a wipe down with a damp towel.

  I would like this vacuum a whole lot more if it was able to hold onto what was just sucked up. It has very good suction and does a nice job, but as soon as I turn it off, a bunch of whatever I just sucked up falls back out the nozzle.

  After reading numerous reviews I finally purchased this vacuum. I must admit that I was a little disappointed with the suction since I have 2 dogs and a lot of hair. This vacuum keeps up pretty well considering I do have 2 dogs and a lot of hair! Overall it’s a great vacuum and a nice design.

  Of all the brands of hand held vacuums I’ve owned over the years, Black & Decker has got to be the worse! This model is constantly blowing dirt out of it’s housing. But, mainly, this brand doesn’t hold up to daily use. The electrical wiring inside is constantly coming loose from the terminals and finally it won’t run at all. It’s only about six months old but isn’t worth the bother to repair–again!

  I bought this hand vac because I didn’t want to lug out my vacuum cleaner every time I wanted to get pet hair off my furniture. It works really well in terms of removing pet hair and the suction is great, however I still find myself using my regular vacuum a lot instead for three reasons.

  1) It’s pretty heavy! I’m no weakling, but when I have to do a couple of couches and a rug, it starts to get hard. That’s why it’s often to use my regular vac’s turbo brush since you’re not carry the motor with you.

  2) The cord is annoying. This device would be sooo much better if they designed it with a retractable cord. As it is now, the cord doesn’t stay wrapped in the space provided. I wanted a corded vac because I already have a Dirt Devil Kone and it’s not as powerful, but I just wish you could store the cord in a more convenient fashion.

  3) The bagless cup doesn’t empty very easily. Most of the dirt sticks to the filter cup, and I find myself using a used dryer sheet to loosen the dirt.

  Anyway, it works well enough that I don’t see any reason in returning it, but I do wish I had bought the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser instead. Oh well.

  Can’t figure out where all the good reviews are coming from. I’ve owned this product for about 6 mo and have stopped using it because it stopped doing its job. It worked really well for about 2 weeks, but then the dust cup got dirty (dog hair) and now it no longer traps anything it manages to pick up. If I’m supposed to buy a new $9 filter every couple of weeks, that’s unacceptable. Also I find that the cord is very stiff and makes the vacuum frustrating to use and the cord difficult to wrap. On the plus side, it is small enough to vacuum stairs but bigger (and heavier) than a dustbuster. Also, the brush is nice - well, at least it was when when it still worked.
